Money Saving Help – Know What’s Draining Your Wallet!

Whenever you look for money saving help on the Internet, they tell you to take a closer look at your expenditures.  You ask “How does that help me save my money?”  Well, hopefully this article can help you figure ways help save money in your own circumstances.

Any good article on money saving help will recommend a review of what you spend on and how much you spend.  This is excellent advice, as many of us spend and take our money for granted and need help saving money.  There are many times that we just pay for something without realizing how much it costs us in the long run – especially those daily purchases that you just do without much thinking.

Coffee

Your coffee (or tea, if that’s your thing) may be costing you much more than you think.  Think about your ubiquitous corner coffee store.  Do you tend to go for the overly-made drinks which have less coffee than non-coffee ingredients yet are still passed off as “coffee”?  Think about it: the costs of each individual cup stack up to a whole lot of bucks every month, a lot of which could have been saved by going with less-expensive but still great-tasting alternatives.

Savings tips here could translate into your choices.  How about choosing black coffee and skipping the creamy frappes?  Or just buy a strong cup from a lower-profile shop and dressing it up on your own?  At the very least, you’ll save a few cents per cup, as well as avoiding calories (which are much harder to get rid of and stack up even worse).

Credit Card / Loan Payments

Your monthly payments on your debts may be the deciding factor in your finances.  When it comes to money saving help, it is as much about getting rid of obligations as it is about trimming expenditures.

Most people pay only the minimum balance on their monthly payments – which banks love because they can milk you for more over a longer period of time.  Don’t fall into this trap of complacency.  Pay off all your debts as quickly as you can, even if it means sacrificing luxuries.  This will only leave you with more money to enjoy life with in the long term.

Gas

Gas prices continue to rise, and you could be burning up your money in the form of gas or diesel.  Do you really need such a big car?  Or do you even really need to take your car to work at all?  If your workplace is not too far, you could just walk or bike there.  Reserve your car for those days when it is raining or when you need the extra carrying capacity.

Cellphone Services

The Last of our money saving help tips: keep track of your monthly usage of your cellphone.  Do you really need that many minutes or SMS messages available on your account?  If you are using far less than your actual limit, consider getting a service plan that costs less.  You’ll be surprised at how much money you’ll save in a year.
